the mystery of the sacred feminine: a time to put it all out there.

“We’re not on a journey to save the world but to save ourselves. But in doing that you save the world. The influence of a vital person vitalizes.”  ~ Joseph Campbell

For far too long we as women have tried in spite of ourselves, to find a place of inhabitable balance. We’ve teetered between masculine extraversion and then tight-roped our way back to the safe and sacred feminine. It’s time to move boldly forward, to cultivate a deeper relationship within ourselves; to honor our utmost yearnings so that we may be better equipped to create the outward spiral of change that is so dire for our world.

What will you cultivate?  Will you use your skill set to usher in change?

Are you willing to be a vehicle for change? For many years masculine linear thinking has served us well, but nothing linear lasts forever. At best, it’s afforded us the comforts of modern civilization and at times held us blindly in a perpetual fog.

Healing feminine energy inhabits us all…..even our men have that capacity.

Women have lived in a space of unrealized potential for far too long. What if we consciously realized our capacity for self-love, self-individuation - the personal power derived from relentless self-care?

Having the confidence and belief enough to express our oneness, enables what’s intended for us all.

* What sacred obligation do you have safely tucked away?

* What do you have unwavering faith in?

* What are you quietly devoted to?

“Love activates higher consciousness: something much more expansive to our human existence.”

The sacred feminine inherently wants to be brave, deep and bold. To love ourselves without judgment is to hold ourselves and others with reverence: that is our truest form of expression.

Dispelling vulnerability + why I love Dr. Brene Brown.

This week’s mantra: "I will surrender to fear and let go."

“Vulnerability is the road to transformation.”

I recently attended the Chase Jarvis Live Show, his guest was Brene Brown. The conversation centered on her research on the subject of vulnerability - the concept of what it means to be both brave and afraid. What can that produce?

Those of us, leading creative lives who are “putting it out there”, know first-hand of that simultaneous feeling of being brave and afraid. For me, if I’m not feeling a healthy sense of nerves or excitement, I know I’m simply going through the motions - in a realm that’s inauthentic. That nervous buzz serves as my trusted guide to help me avoid added filler in my life.

Brene Brown has a transparency that’s refreshingly infectious. She’s an educator/researcher, who majored in the study of social work, turned speaker-gone-viral on TED Talks. She has authored (including self-published) a book on the topic of shame, designed workshops and conducted corporate talks on the subjects of vulnerability, fear and human connection. Brene has been featured and interviewed on Oprah.

Fear for growth’s sake is sustenance, healthy vulnerability - a liberator.

Pushing through insurmountable fear, going beyond our comfort zone and coming out the other side, is where growth is immeasurable – it makes way for unexpected space clearing and self expansion.

Is there an area in your life where space can be created for you, if so, where is it hiding?

Encapsulating her words: The courage to be vulnerable transforms how we express ourselves in all areas of life.

“Vulnerability is having the guts to show up and be seen with no prediction of outcome....it’s being brave and afraid at the same time.” Her perspective on vulnerability is this; “If you’re not in the arena getting your ass kicked on a regular basis, I am not open to or interested in your feedback. If you’re in the cheap seats, not contributing and not putting yourself out there, your opinion has little to no value.”

As an artist and creative trying to generate new work, life in the “cheap seats” is unquestionably safe. It’s easy to be the critique in the corner, who speaks of how “it” could’ve been better, or how “they” would have done it. Truth is – it’s that critique’s burning desire to be "out there."

She goes on to say, “When we’re defined by what people think we lose the courage to create. When we stop caring, we lose the capacity for connection.”

A true and powerful statement. It’s your imperative to shine a light and express what you came to this life with; so go do it and take your friend with you.

Yes love, fear can be an immensely powerful friend indeed.

Exercising your right to free will.

Owning our capacity for heart-centered expression.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Understanding the right of self-autonomy and personal sovereignty is to fully live life and create without self-judgment in a way that honors the soul.

Self-judgment is an undermining culprit - it robs us of our Spirit and power. Communicating with self-deprecating talk and thought or calling out our perceived individual flaws/weaknesses is like self-prescribed poison - it’s toxic. We are created in Divine image. There is no room for underscoring our worth.

Passion, Movement, Expression; you in equilibrium, is being “in union” with self. Every intrinsic deeply held, believed-to-be flaw; let it pass and flush it. It’s of no service or use to you, never has been, never will be.

From revelation to transformation: Free will is a free ride, it takes the struggle out of non-discretionary action. Harness the “I am” let it be your strength without constraint – take personal ownership for your success in a way that is expressed boldly, bravely, courageously and fearlessly you.

Change yourself, change the world.

Re-Engineering the Mind/Body Map to Activate Healing

“We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” ~ Joseph Campbell

Promoting healing and wellness is the first step to a life of joy on the road to personal fulfillment. There’s a level of discomfort and excitement when we’re being nudged by the universe but more often than not, we lose steam and revert to the familiar- as painful as it can be.

The world is waiting for what you have to offer; does this idea alone motivate you? If not, what will it take to move you into the role of personal activist to create the shapeshifting that's required for change?

By creating intention through the potential for possibility – to plant that seed, may in itself support the motivation for healing and releasing pain. Metaphysical energetic healing (like Spiritual Energy Dynamics®) is a modality that allows access to recreation and clearing – allowing us to tap into mind, body and spirit. In addition, it activates clarity and connection to foster the transformation we so desire.

There is only one you that will never be recreated by anyone else ever again.

This, is it.

For those of us that reside in emotional and spiritual exile; know that you have the freedom to co-create a fresh start. That decision alone must be made consciously, whole-heartedly and be honored on every level.

“That you are here -that life exists, and identity;
That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse.”
~ Walt Whitman - Leaves of Grass

There’s a fine art to stealing.

“Art is theft.” ~ Pablo Picasso

Introducing my new favorite read:

In this thoughtful + humorous book, Austin explores the questions:

* Do you view the world through the lens of an artist?

* Do you know how to unlock creativity?

* Is imitation flattery?

Emulation vs. Imitation and the theory of “fake it till you make it”.

My story: Many years ago before speaking at a large corporate event, I experience unprecedented fear. On one particular day it was announced that there would be nearly one thousand attendees, I nearly lost it. A strategy that helped me push through was pretending to be Oprah. Of course I don’t look, sound, nor was I trying actually channel Oprah, it was more summoning her presence and courage. This act allowed me to achieve my personal best through the art of authentic recreation, enabling me to tackle an unimaginable task.

Emulation is not necessarily “ripping off” an original. You have your own voice, thoughts and perspective. You can slice, dice and add your special sauce to whatever already exists; it just has to reflect your personal expression and true voice – it’s walking that fine line.

“Good artists copy, great artists steal.” ~ Steve Jobs

Austin introduces other topics that bring this concept full circle such as:

* Why side projects and hobbies are important.

* Write the book you want to read.

* Why being boring is useful.

* Don’t wait till you know who you are to get started.

Read this book. I promise it will change how you preconceive and approach your life – that in itself is artistry.

One thing’s for certain: YOU WILL figure-it-out!

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.” ~ George Bernard Shaw.

That’s right, mistakes can be useful. “Fail fast”, says Melody Biringer founder of *   The Crave Company   . Melody has built many successful businesses on the concept of “failing fast”. From a business perspective this theory eliminates time lost launching and creating ventures that were never likely to succeed.  The result saves you precious time and money.

How does this translate to all corners of our lives?

From the way we conceptualize business, to beginning romantic alliances, the pieces sometimes were never meant to fall into place. Our inherent belief system is ingrained and interconnected in the way we approach most everything.

For fear of relinquishing the familiar. When we detach ourselves from familiarity that’s not best serving us, or take the road less travelled, magic will happen. It gives us opportunity to see things with fresh eyes.

Q +A:

* What is familiar and not working in your life that you need to “fail fast” at permanently?

* What’s the lesson you’ve come to realize that’s been repeated time and again that hasn’t served you? How has it improved and have you made peace with it?

This is a time for illuminating areas of our lives that need shedding or total elimination, as if to say “pssst…. hey you, shed baby, shed”!  Go back through your history and connect the dots; think elimination, transformation and regeneration meant to encourage heart-centered expansion.

Repurpose the idea as metaphysical movement; an emotional and spiritual cleanse creating space for you to succeed!

Remember: You are a gift to this world; deserving of living in your fullest expression and in true alignment.

Your story: Choosing to release attachment.

Each of us has been put on earth with the ability to do something well. We cheat ourselves and the world if we don't use that ability as best we can. - George Allen, Sr.

“Choice, not chance, determines you destiny.” – Aristotle

Letting go of the same old; same balancing act, same ole’ dialogue, same thoughts and choices produce more of the same results and keep us stymied from making inroads that allow us to align with our essential selves, our destiny.

In embracing the inward and outward ebb and flow of life, finding peace in conflict and strife; we learn to know spiritual symmetry. It’s there we learn to nourish the inner and outer soul. Through this process we settle into our truth, we maintain a clear mind and open heart, where truth acts as our beacon.

In lucid incite we can draw from and shepherd in wisdom.

Until we learn, we’ll be tested over and over again - the challenge is finding peace and ease in deep discord. “It’s not the load that breaks you down. It is the way you carry it." - Lou Holtz

Be in training mode; positively perpetuate and maintain wholeness and completeness. Be pliable, be ready, to protect what’s divinely yours – at all times.

What part of your story are you willing to let go of?

Liberation requires settling into a virtuous cycle: Initially that in itself may cause nothing short of discomfort. That discomfort has the potentiality to manifest into nothing less than the alchemy of the soul. Deconstructing the part that no longer serves us requires a place of adjustment, but can change the trajectory of your story.

The generous heart :: The art of the compliment.

“I only wish you could see what I see”. Words from a friend.

The artful compliment is stitched, fashioned and intertwined with love and encouragement. It’s a heartfelt gift to the recipient that enables an offering of validation and valuation, at just the right moment.

The ability to love who you are, is the potency needed to extend our hearts openly and to fill someone else’s.

When we own our capacity to step outside the lines of our fragilities to deliver messages of generous support, it in turn expands, reconstructs and heals our spirit.

What it’s like to be relentlessly you.

re-creation, free will + initiative.

"The butterfly becomes only when it’s entirely ready" -Chinese Proverb

"It takes courage to push yourself to places that you have never been before… to test your limits… to break through barriers. And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight inside the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" -Anais Nin

Two years ago I received a ukulele for my birthday. The idea was inspired while attending my family reunion on Oahu, July 2011. I returned ready to learn to play an instrument that would allow me to further connect to my roots and heritage. The goal (yes, I’m a goal oriented person) was to competently play alongside my family by next reunion time.

So on that birthday when my husband presented me with a gift, I knew exactly what it was by its shape, I got a sick and sinking feeling as in, “this is just one more thing I’m going to half-ass in my life”.  Please understand I was extremely grateful and really touched, but I’ve been known to have too many balls in the air. I’d also made a recent decision to narrow my scope of interest to three things at a time, more about mastering quality not quantity.

Fast forward to last week, I exercised my right to free will, that ukulele had been calling to me.

I was in a space of desiring art-based pastimes outside of the gym or yoga studio that would center me, offer encouragement and not be so goal oriented; more joy for joy’s sake, not built so much on expectation.  I searched for a reputable teacher and took my first lesson.

Last Sunday I learned six chords and actually played the ukulele – that was not the goal, it just happened.

We are capable of creating creation and love all the time. Activate that for yourself. What is it that you can create?  Focus on love and creation, start there.

Actively participating in your life is a choice, free will doesn’t mean free ride. Free will is about the responsibility of making our heart centered dreams a reality. Like playing an instrument, life is about mastering one chord at a time…..

Creation comes outward through spirit, thought and love from within and relentless belief in yourself.

What it feels like to be free + live in peace ::

“For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” ~ Nelson Mandela

Is your life experience unencumbered, relentless spiritual freedom?

Do you bask in peaceful solidarity?

To live peacefully in body, mind and spirit is a conscious choice; the freedom from bondage offers unrestricted flow in life.

- Is your career your calling?

- Is your physical and mental wellness your priority?

- Can you identify those areas of life where you are restricted?

More importantly, do you know where to start?

Pathways to existing freely and peacefully are access points en route to personal liberation.

En route to Nirvana… in a manner of speaking.

To release shackles that inhibit our brilliance is the first step toward spiritual liberation.  The time is now for our soul’s to regenerate - a time to peel back layer upon layer of antiquated, habitual beliefs that keep us bound.  Your core essence, what you value inherently within and outside of yourself, will only stand the test of time…..

Will you stand for yourself?

Thoughtful, incremental changes are portals to monumental freedom and a life of peace. Our choices are inherent; they emanate and manifest without question from your heart and soul-filled intuition.

“Whether you know it or not, whether you are aware of it or not, your life is a trust. Every faculty that you have, all the training that you receive, is a trust granted to you so that you may give to the world, which stands badly in need of your contribution. Don’t go by what the media say. We are in a very, very difficult situation all over the world, and it’s not enough to talk about peace; you have to live in peace, and you have to help others live in peace too.”  -Eknath Easwaran
